01-31-2005 --------------------------------------------- RAPIDS 2.4.1 Database Patch for SQL Anywhere --------------------------------------------- NOTES: ------- The following procedure applies to the RAPIDS SQL Anywhere (standalone) database. Oracle users should not apply this patch. This database patch is only necessary for users who wish to upgrade an EXISTING SQL Anywhere database. If you have done a new install of RAPIDS release 2.4.1 and are using the starter database that comes with that release, then this patch is unnecessary. FILE LIST: ---------- 1) PATCH241.SQL This file contains an SQL script for miscellaneous bug fixes and for adding and modifying new columns in the temporary tables used for the NIF 3.0 to RAPIDS import enhancement. DOWNLOADING THE DATABASE PATCH FILE: ------------------------------------- 1) Download the file named PATCH241.ZIP. This zip file contains one SQL file for the RAPIDS 2.4.1 database patch. 2) Unzip the PATCH241.ZIP file to your RAPIDS DBPatch folder (e.g. C:\RAPIDS20\DBPatch). --------------------------- RUNNING THE DATABASE PATCH --------------------------- Before starting, please determine the location of your RAPIDS installation (e.g. C:\RAPIDS20), as this path will be needed during the following procedure. 1) Using Windows Explorer, open the folder where RAPIDS is installed (e.g. C:\RAPIDS20). 2) Locate the program file called ISQL.EXE (it may only show as ISQL on some machines). Double-click the file name or its icon to start the ISQL utility. 3) If you are not prompted for logon information, choose "Command/Connect..." from the ISQL menu bar. 4) When the logon window appears, make sure the "More>>" button has been selected. 5) Enter the following logon information: User ID: rapids Password: rapids1 Database File: \rapids.db (where is the location of your rapids.db file, e.g. C:\RAPIDS20\rapids.db) The other fields may be left blank. Click "OK" to attach to the RAPIDS database. 6) Select "File/Open" from the menu bar. Navigate to the location where you unzipped the SQL file (e.g C:\RAPIDS20\DBPatch) and select the file named PATCH241.SQL. Click the "Open" button. You will see the SQL syntax appear in the ISQL "Command" window. 7) Click the "Execute" button in the "Command" window. The SQL command will be executed, and you may see a progress message in the "Statistics" window. 8) When the "Execute" button becomes enabled again, the command processing is complete. NOTE: The PATCH241.SQL script will update system data in two existing tables (pbcattbl and pbcatcol).
