Field Trip – Monday, September 19, 2011

Registrants will have the option of participating in a field trip to BASF in Wyandotte, Michigan (near the Detroit River) on Monday, September 19th. Space is limited to the first 35 who register for it; hence availability is based on a first come-first serve approach.

Field Trip Agenda
Those going on the field trip will take a chartered bus leaving from the Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest at approximately 12:15 p.m. EDT (final departure time pending) and arrive at BASF in Wyandotte at about 1:00 p.m. Below is a draft agenda for the field trip:

  • Sign in -- 10 mins
  • Safety/evacuation review -- 5 mins
  • Business review (4 units @ 20 mins each) -- 80 mins
  • Questions/miscellaneous -- 15 mins
  • Lab Tour -- 40 mins
The lab tour will demonstrate some of the products which are utilized in the manufacturing of wind turbines. BASF personnel will show parts made from the same or similar chemistry for other markets.

Presentations will consist of an overview of BASF involvement in wind globally and in NAFTA, products offered, where they are used and where BASF fits in the supply chain. They will offer comment on market conditions and the impact the wind industry has had on their business.
