Lake St. Clair Coastal Habitat Conservation and Restoration

Integrated Coastal Management Tool
The NOAA Coastal Services Center is currently working in cooperation with the Great Lakes Commission to develop the Integrated Coastal Management (ICM) Tool. The tool will allow users to consider the impacts of various management decisions on Lake St. Clair coastal habitat.

The tool will calculate habitat statistics from quality data sources that are used to examine how habitats function within a landscape. These statistics will allow users to identify and rank components of the landscape and perform land use scenario testing along with optional aquatic habitat calculations and data overlays. Results can be displayed as reports or in an ArcGIS map format.

Applications of the ICM Tool include:

  • Identification and ranking of potential restoration and conservation areas
  • Habitat inventory
  • Land use planning
