Environmental Monitoring Inventory for the Lake St. Clair Basin
Inventory methods
A Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) (PDF) has been formed and includes members from federal, state/provincial, and local organizations. An initial meeting of the TAC was held in October to finalize the monitoring needs assessment for the Lake St. Clair basin and discuss components of the survey form that will be used to collect monitoring program information.
Through office visits, phone interviews, and electronic correspondence with program managers, Great Lakes Commission staff will collect monitoring program information. All monitoring information will be housed in a web-based searchable database that will be openly available to all interested parties.
Rather than housing all the monitoring data, the inventory will serve as a monitoring portal by providing descriptive information on each monitoring program. All inquiries for monitoring data will be made directly through program managers. After the completion of the monitoring inventory, a TAC meeting will be held to discuss the design of the monitoring inventory website and begin discussion on ways to better coordinate monitoring in the Lake St. Clair basin to meet previously identified monitoring needs.
A list of Lake St. Clair basin monitoring organizations (MS-Excel) identified by the Great Lakes Commission is available. If you are aware of any additions that should be made to this list or have information on monitoring programs in the Lake St. Clair basin, please contact Anne Sturm at asturm@glc.org or call 734-971-9135.
