The National Weather Service office in Cleveland is not reporting any significant ice cover on Lake Erie as of early January. Before the lake can freeze over, the water temperature needs to be around 32 to 33 degrees; on January 6, the water temperature for Lake Erie was recorded at 35 degrees.
